Fusion of Craftsmanship and Technology

Every year, the Monterey Car Week provides car aficionados with a solid overdose of automobile ‘eye candy’. From new car launches to vintage racing and from world-class concours to streetside car shows, the gearhead’s sensory neurons are in a state of constant overdrive. Fortunately, through the magic of live streaming, social media and auto media, the phenomenon is no longer privy to the lucky crowds sampling the goods in the Monterey region. The entertainment is spread evenly throughout the world at a breakneck speed.

Thanks to the quality of today’s image technology and the presenters’ depth of knowledge, the public has benefited from greater insights into what really goes into cars that stand out. From the elements of design to the materials used, as well as the craftsmanship behind these creations, these facts are not only informative, but they are inspirational for those of us that undertake creative automotive projects. These projects are more readily apparent in niche markets that include prototypes, resto-mods, ground-up restorations, continuation cars and replicas.

But what makes this amalgam result in one car standing out above the others? Irrespective of the type of vehicle one fancies, what makes the difference are the ingredients that go into the design, the build and the finishing touches. To bring these elements together requires a vision, a keen sense of your customer’s expectations, creative problem solving and obsessive attention to detail – no small task! A quick detour to YouTube to join Singer’s factory tour ‘speaks a thousand words.’

To reach our quality objectives and regulatory imperatives, AMW made extensive use of some of the latest technologies- CAD, virtual reality design, 3D printing, laser etching and 5-axis routers. Not only do these technologies ensure incredible accuracy and reliability, but they also allow us to develop new options and optimize the tight spaces inherent in our car’s design. Much like any good wine, time is an essential ingredient. As clearly evidenced with all other ‘specialty’ car builders, build time is one of the essential ingredients that differentiate ‘good’ from ‘outstanding’. Since the reliability and quality of our J2X® is the end product, shortcuts to quality are not an option.

Recently, AMW’s rigorous adhesion to its quality imperative was rewarded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as it approved the company as the first low-volume replica manufacturer’. This privilege is of major significance to new J2X® MkIII customers, as it streamlines the state DMV’s title and registration process. As a ‘single-source’ manufacturer, AMW pre-empts the normal new vehicle inspection process by self-certifying each vehicle for safety and emissions before it leaves the plant. It also provides 17-digit VINs along with the required DOT labels for each car, including the listing of the NHTSA-approved equipment exclusions.

For collectors, investors and hard-driving roadster enthusiasts, this ‘low-volume manufacturer’s signature tagline will always ring true:

Rarely Seen. Never Forgotten.
